Responsible, sustainable co-construction of Artificial Intelligence
Duration and funding: 6 years – 300K€
CornelIA meets the challenge of responsible, sustainable AI through co-construction processes involving research, the socio-economic fabric, institutional actors and citizens, promoting ethical use and serene appropriation. It combines innovative, federative facilities with top-level AI research, building a value chain and maturing technologies, to provide a concrete response to the need for innovation.
CONTEXT
The initiative of CornelIA aims to enhance the appeal of training programs by improving access to infrastructures and research teams. It also includes AI outreach and mediation activities for decision-makers, professionals, and the general public, with real-world experimentation. The project supports businesses in adopting AI technologies by testing proof-of-concept projects and fostering research and innovation. Additionally, it seeks to accelerate technological maturation and research transfer by leveraging expertise and prototypes while promoting business creation and supporting incubators. The goal is to provide high-level training, expand access to technological platforms, and create a significant economic and societal impact through research valorization.

CHALLENGES

One of the main challenges of CornelIA is to structure a collaborative ecosystem that fosters innovation and the valorization of research work, while ensuring wide and effective adoption by researchers, industry professionals, and students. This involves facilitating the availability and sharing of datasets, code, and compiled tools while ensuring their quality and compliance with regulations. It also entails enabling the replay of scientific results and online inference to test models on internal data, which requires a robust and efficient infrastructure. CornelIA aims to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration by highlighting use cases from various academic and industrial fields. Additionally, it ensures the effective adoption of the platform by professionals and students as a pedagogical tool to concretely illustrate AI challenges. It also provides educational and technical support to maximize the development of student skills and to assist industry professionals.
